Wow! I cannot believe it is May already! This year has flown by so fast and our dancers are working so hard to get ready for their recital! We can’t wait to show you!

Tickets are on sale!

Tickets go on sale April 29th at 9:00 a.m. Seats are reserved! If you have a dancer ages 3-6 that is only in 1 number they can sit in the audience with you! You must purchase a ticket next to one of these seats reserved for our dancers. These are aisle seats.

Costumes:

Your dancer should have their costume. If they have not gotten theirs please stop at the desk and leave your name with Lynne or your teacher. Tights will be arriving next week! If you are getting a second pair please pay for them before you take them. If your dancer is in both shows please consider signing up to help out at the second show. There is a lot of work that goes into a production this large, and we appreciate any help we can get!

Seabreeze:

Please sign up if your dancer will be performing at Seabreeze. You will need a recital tee for this performance as we do not wear costumes for this. Our day is June 1st and our performance is at 2:30. Not all dances can perform as we only have a 45 minute time slot but we will make sure everyone gets a chance to do at least 1 dance.

Rehearsal:

Our rehearsal for spacing is also at Risen Christ on Saturday 6/15 from 1:00-3:30 for the 1:00 show and from 3:00-6:00 with the 4:30 show. Leads may need to stay later. Your dancer will be given a time slot. If you are a lead or in more than one dance you will be required to stay longer. All students are in a finale and are encouraged to stay until the end to participate. You will be receiving costume sheets and hair and make up instruction sheets. Please make sure your dancer has the proper shoes (color & style) and that they fit and aren’t too small.

4th of July Parade:

We have been invited to march in the Penfield 4th of July parade on Saturday June 29th. Details to follow. Sign up at the desk if you are interested in joining us!Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any. We are here to make this experience enjoyable for you and your dancer.

Summer Camps:

Our Summer Camps are filling, our summer class schedule is online and available at the desk. The fall schedule will be coming out very soon! We love the fact that we offer small classes so that your dancer can have individualized attention. We don’t put more than 8 dancers in a class if they are 8 & under.

Costumes are starting to arrive and be handed out! Please make sure you have paid your balance. For students getting more than 1 pair of tights you will owe $10.80 child size, $12.80 adult size for your second pair. Hair and make up sheets will follow soon!

Recital Tees are being ordered for our Seabreeze performance on June 1st at 2:30. The tees are $14.56. Please sign up at the desk and make sure your dancer’s name is spelled correctly! The tees are Dancers can attend the park free this day. Please sign up at the desk if your dancer is planning on performing. We are only allowed 45 minutes so some classes may combine for this performance. It’s great way to get the pre show jitters out and have a fun family day! Friends and family get discounted tickets online!

Many of our little ones are complaining that their shoes are too small. We have a bin of used shoes that you are welcome to swap out your smaller sizes for or you can order from our online store at www.shopnimbly.com/PFSofDance

Exciting News!

We will be opening a dance store in our extra room in late April or May of 2019! You can shop there or online for all of your dancers needs!

Our Summer and Fall Schedule will be available by the end of April. We will be taking registrations for our current students in May for summer and fall and open up registration for new students in June.

January News

Happy 2019! We are so excited for this new year! We hope you enjoyed your break over the holidays!

Our studio has been invited to perform for the Globetrotters pre game show. It is February 9th at the Blue Cross Arena and your time commitment would be noon-game over. Every dancer and their family needs to purchase a special priced ticket. It’s a great opportunity and a lot of fun!

Rehearsal times are as follows:

6&7 year olds Saturdays 12:15-1:15

8,9,10 year olds Tuesdays 6:30-7:30

11 & up Thursdays 7:00-8:00

Full group will rehearse on Martin Luther King Day and 2 Saturdays January 26th and February 2nd.

If you are interested in having your child perform we will be wearing our red and blue dance shirts from last year. We will be putting in a new order for those of you who don’t have one. Black leggings and white sneakers will also be required.

Every student’s parent must sign a release and there will be a $20 fee to cover the costs of the extra rehearsal time. This was a lot of fun for the families last year! Sign up at the desk if you are interested!

Costume balances will be billed within the next two weeks. Everyone who is performing in the recital needs to have their costume balances paid by January 20th.

We are open on Monday January 21st!

Solos, dusts and small groups for leads will be started in February and may be rehearsing over the break. Please let Miss Patty know in advance if you are away that week in February.

Your generosity during the Christmas season was greatly appreciated by me and my staff. Thank you for your generous gifts!

Just a reminder if Penfield Schools close due to the weather we follow the Penfield School District. So far we have been lucky with a mild December, let’s hope January-March are mild too!

Holiday Break

The studio will be closed Saturday December 22nd and reopen Wednesday January 2nd. Leads for “Under the Sea” will be rehearsing a few days during break. Miss Patty will let you know before the 15th. Please share any conflicts you may have!

We may also have another Mermaid Camp during the week between Christmas and New Year! We will keep you posted on the dry erase board!

Rochester Kettle Corn Fundraiser

We will be taking orders for the next two weeks for our fundraiser. Please have friends and family make their checks out to you and submit one check or cash with your order form if you choose to participate! You can earn 50% and the pick up will be at the studio on Thursday the 20th or Friday the 21st.

Costumes

Will be ordered this month. Everyone has been measured and your costume deposits should have been paid. Your balance will be due in January and we will be letting you know what your balance is before December 15th.

Closing Due to Weather

If Penfield Schools close we close too! That way there is no confusion! Classes can be made up at your convenience for weather closings or illness.

Chilly Dancers

Please pack a sweater for your little dancers. They cannot wear their jackets in class but they can wear a sweater if they are cold.

Boot Trays

Parents and dancers are asked to please remove wet shoes and boots and put them in a boot tray, not in the cubbies! We want to keep our rug dry so that our dancers shoes remain dry. Wet shoes can mean a slip and fall for a dancer.

We are cutting off registration for new students. We are only accepting new students in the following classes.

  • Monday 3&4 year class from 4:00-4:50

  • Saturday 5&6 year classes 10:00-10:50

  • Tuesday 6&7 year class from 6:00-6:50

Please wear your favorite holiday shirt or sweater December 15th-21st! If you bring a treat to share with your class please be aware we have a few students with peanut allergies.

“Under the Sea”

Our June performance is June 22nd at Penfield High School and the shows have been divided. Most classes are only in 1 show, as it is double cast. There is a 1:00 and a 4:30 show at Penfield High School! We had auditions Monday the 22nd and all of our students who auditioned did a fabulous job! If you are a mermaid please visit Walmart in Macedon and purchase a mermaid tail. They are sequined. We will order sequin tank tops or leotards for the mermaid tops.


Speaking of costumes an $85.00 costume deposit is due during the month of November. If you are ordering a solo costume, you need to make a deposit for that as well. We will also be measuring everyone this month and we will add an inch or two for growth. There are only a few reputable costume companies to order from and many dance studios that order from them so we need to order costumes by December in order to get them by March. Balances will be due in January.


A $30 recital fee will be due in February.


Word of mouth is our best reference. We still have spots in our young dancer classes. Monday 3&4, Thursday 3&4, Tuesday 6&7 and Saturday 5&6, 7&8 and 8-10.  Please share this with friends and family!


Our Midland Fundraiser is now closed. 

We still have Save a Round Book fundraiser.

There are tons of coupons in these books and they are $25.00.  You get $5.00 credit from any book that you sell to go towards whatever you want.  Sell 5 and the 6th book is free!

Dance Masters of America Workshop News! Let Miss Patty know if you are interested in attending! Classes are Ballet, Tap & Jazz. The November workshop is November 11th in Syracuse at United Academy of Dance. The cost is $53.00 per student. We are planning on attending Dance Masters Performing Arts Competition April 5th-7th if your class is competing and you have to attend a workshop in order to compete. It’s also a great experience!


We are putting in a studio jacket and sweat shirt order.  Prices are $80 for a jacket and $30 for a sweatshirt! It makes a great gift and show of studio spirit! CLICK HERE for a printable order form.


Parking: There are parking spaces all around the barn with an extra lot behind the barn.  Feel free to park on the grass as well!

As we start our third week of lessons please be aware there are a few changes to the schedule! We have added a new 3&4 year old class Wednesdays from 4:40-5:30 with Miss Tammee & a “Littles” class for ages 18 months-2 years also on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:45. Please keep checking and liking our Facebook page! We also have a parent group on Facebook!

We have 2 fundraisers ongoing! The first is Save-around-Rochester Books! There are tons of coupons in these books and they are $25.00. You get $5.00 credit from any book that you sell to go towards whatever you want. Sell 5 and the 6th book is free! The second is Midland Fundraising. There are lots of great gifts in there and if we sell enough you can earn 40% of your sales. These are due October 10th. We hope to get Niagara Chocolate Bars too later this month!

We will have auditions for leads Monday October 22nd from 6:00-7:30! We are so excited for our show “Under the Sea”! Dancers 8& up are welcome to try out!

We will be measuring your dancers for costumes by the end of October. We will be ordering costumes in late November. Costume deposits will be due November 1st. Leads need to make a $100.00 deposit, everyone else your deposit is $85.00.

We have adult Tap Fridays 7:00-7:45 and Jazz 7:45-8:30. There are no adult classes Friday October 5th.

We are open on October 8th which is Columbus Day! Lots of holidays fall on Mondays so we have to pick and choose the ones we are closed!

October 8th-12th is “Bring a Friend to Dance Week!” If you have a friend that is not currently enrolled in another studio and has a desire to dance, bring them to class! Our greatest advertisement is word of mouth so let the inviting begin!

We are a peanut free facility as we have a few students with allergies this year. Please be mindful if your dancer brings a snack!

There will be no classes on Wednesday October 31st. The Wednesday dancers can make up their class in a different class at your convenience if you wish!

We are looking to put together a bus trip to NYC for two days of shopping and two shows. We will leave Saturday morning and see the Radio City Rockettes, you will have free time and we will stay overnight. Sunday we will see “Once on this Island” Miss Patty has a student in this Broadway show and we hope to get a backstage tour. We will come home Sunday after the show. We are still working out the details of pricing but we are excited for this opportunity! We are looking at the weekend of December 1st & 2nd. If you are interested see Miss Patty!

Summer News

Summer News

I can’t believe July is almost over! We have had so much fun with our Princess, Trolls and Frozen Camps! We have also had 2 Doodlebug Trolls Camps in July and have another in August! Our 4 weeks of summer classes are half over, and Descendants Performing Arts Camp is just a few weeks away! Don’t forget to send in your payment for this camp before August 1st. With that comes our Open House where we accept new registrations and order shoes, and dance kits.

We will be accepting fall registration during the last two weeks of classes. It is highly recommended that you register then so that you have first choice of your preferred class times. Classes close for young dancers after we have 8 students registered. The fall schedule is online. You can download a registration form and mail it in. Classes start September 17th. September payment is due before September 1st to hold your dancer’s spot. It is a yearly fee divided into 10 equal payments. The price for 1 class is $55.00 per month. Two classes $75.00 per month and prices go up $5.00 per class after that.

Open House is August 20th & 21st from 5:00-8:00. You can call ahead and order shoes or leotards or kits so that you don’t have to wait! See shoe list below:

  • 3 & 4 year olds pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes
  • 5 & 6 year olds pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes
  • 6, 7 & 8 year olds pink ballet shoes, tan jazz shoes, tan tap shoes
  • 9 & up pink ballet shoes, tan jazz shoes, tan tap shoes
  • Hip Hop sneakers only worn inside

All dancers are expected to wear leotards and tights and the proper shoes. If you do not have these items for class you may be asked to sit out and watch. Dress code will be enforced this year. We cannot fix technique if the teacher cannot see your alignment, placement and muscles.

Cell phones need to be kept in your dance bags and not taken out during class time.

Only water is allowed in the dance rooms. No food or drinks.
