Patty Flowerday School of Dance & Fitness Recital, June & Summer News

Wow it is hard to believe that recital is upon us and we are finishing up our last weeks of classes. I am so proud of all of our dancers and cannot wait to see them shine on the stage! Just a few more tips for a wonderful show!

Young dancers who are in the second half of the show can sit on their parents lap for the first half of the show and can get dressed during intermission. Dancers in the first half can be dropped off in their dressing room and watch the show “theatre style” on a large smart board in the dressing room. Please no dads in the dressing rooms!

There are regular classes the two weeks after this week. We are having rehearsals this week because Miss Michelle is going away and we wanted all of our teachers at rehearsals.

June tuition is due and it is for the whole month. It is a yearly fee divided by 10 monthly installments. With extra rehearsals, pictures, and rehearsals the day of the show you are getting a full month.

Recital Time:

Dancers arrive and are assigned a dressing room. You may get your dancers from the

dressing room during intermission. They need to be brought back to the dressing room near the end of intermission. They are in a finale and will be brought backstage for that. When the curtain closes you may pick your dancer up in the dressing room. We will have sign in and sign out sheets for your dancer there. Please do not approach them on the stage as we don’t want them to fall off the stage if they are running to you.

Please do not enter or exit the auditorium during a dance number. It distracts the dancers and the audience. The school supplies “bouncers” for this and also there is no food or drink allowed in the auditorium. Please don’t leave garbage around the seats or in the dressing rooms as we like to leave the facility the way we found it.

Please no flash photography, it blinds the dancers.

Please no screaming during the numbers, it distracts the dancers. You can cheer after!

Absolutely no videos or pictures are to be taken during the show. We cannot monitor every person that buys a ticket at the door and we don’t want people we don’t know taking pictures or videos of your child. We will stop the show if there are videos or pictures being taken. Please take this time to enjoy your child’s performance with your eyes and not through the lens of a camera or phone. It isn’t the same. Videos this year will be by SEVideo who comes highly recommended!
You can pre order your videos, there are forms on the desk.

The students and teachers have worked hard all year long, and deserve your attention and applause. The show is very different. We do recitals different. We keep them under 2 hours and add a story line to make it more entertaining for you and more fun for the dancers! This year our show is about 1 hour and 50 minutes not including entrance and exit time and a 20 minute intermission. All you have to do at this point is sit back, relax & enjoy the show!

Parent Volunteers Needed

If your dancer is in both shows please consider helping at one of the shows. We need concession people, adults to supervise dressing rooms for little ones and keep them occupied coloring or watching the show on the smart board.

So You Think You Can Dance

A former student of Miss Patty’s will be on this season!
Make sure you tune in to see who it is! And another former student is the stylist for the show! That means she chooses what everyone wears, hair, make up, etc.

June 12th

Because we are a business member of Penfield Business Association, we will have a booth Friday 6/12 from 6:00-8:00 at the Penfield YMCA to kick off summer! We will be promoting our summer camps at this time so sign up if you haven’t already! Our Pre Teens & Teens will be performing our “flash mob” and our Princesses from our show will be there too! Come visit our booth and watch our flash mob!!! There will be classes that day, we will leave, dance, and come back to the studio!

Thanks to all who came out and performed! It is always a great way to get our feet on a stage before our recital! You were fantastic! Good job!
