"A Dog for Emily"
an original children's ballet.
“A Dog for Emily” is an original children’s ballet written by Miss Patty’s dear friend and ballet master Sharon Casper-Detweiller. We are so excited to present this ballet for the third time. It is a bi-annual performance that we do every other year.
The story is about a young girl named Emily who sees a woman walking her dogs. Emily falls in love with the dogs and wants one more than anything but there is a problem. Every time she gets near a dog, she sneezes! Her friends wisk her off to the Pet Shop where the shopkeeper is starting her day with a dance. They try unsuccessfully to find her a pet that she loves and is not allergic to, but after seeing some really wonderful pets, she only has her heart set on a dog.
Back at home, while she is preparing to go to sleep, she makes a wish and says a prayer for a dog of her own. Emily falls asleep and she dreams of the evil allergies that make her sneeze. She also dreams of the kind allergy fairies that arrive to dust, sweep and dance the allergies away. A battle ensues and the fairies are victorious! Emily awakes and through the magic of the ballet, Emily gets the puppy that she has always dreamed of and is not allergic to!
